Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 15" x 10" jelly roll pan.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Beat in flour. Then add vanilla & almond extracts.
Spread batter into a greased pan. Using a spatula or toothpick gently mark lines in the batter to divide the batter into 15 squares.
Drop a spoonful of cherry pie filling into the center of each square.
Bake the coffee cake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes until the batter is set.
Notes
Flavor variations: You can use any kind of pie filling you choose. Apple is great for fall or Thanksgiving. Blueberry is nice during the summer. Strawberry or Lemon pie filling is fun for Mother's Day.You can make the coffee cake (including adding the pie filling), cover it, and refrigerate it overnight and then bake it the next morning. We do it this way every year for Christmas morning.
